The passing of retired music teacher John Vincent Pangia. Beloved Sayville teacher for 32 years.
In Memoriam: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of John Vincent Pangia
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mr. John Vincent Pangia, a beloved music teacher who touched countless lives during his 32-year career at Sayville High School.
After a lifetime dedicated to the power of music and education, Mr. Pangia passed away peacefully in California on May 6.
A proud graduate of Bayside High School (NY), he honed his extraordinary talent at Fredonia State College before achieving the pinnacle of musical training at The Juilliard School. His passion for music was matched only by his devotion to his students, inspiring generations of young musicians from 1960 until his retirement in 1992.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Pangia’s influence resonated in concert halls, rehearsal rooms, and the hearts of all who had the privilege of learning from him. His legacy lives on in the melodies he taught, the minds he shaped, and the joy he brought to Sayville’s music community.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and former students during this difficult time. We will share further details regarding memorial services as they become available.
May his memory be a lasting symphony of love, inspiration, and the transformative power of music.
