The passing of John Carl Golder, Class of 1990.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Carl Golder, Class of 1990, who left us on January 23, 2025, after a 14-year battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

John was born on November 16, 1971, to Louise and Alan Golder in Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip, New York.

John spent 30 years in Virginia before returning to be laid to rest at First Presbyterian Cemetery in Southold.

John will be remembered for his kind and loving heart, who safeguarded numerous businesses in VA before settling into early retirement after his diagnosis. His graceful adaptation to his shifting medical needs offers guidance for those navigating comparable circumstances.

John was predeceased by his loving parents and beloved sister Sandra.

John is survived by his devoted sisters, Lori Ann and Linda Lorello, who have endured unimaginable loss in recent years. After the painful decision to say goodbye to their mother on December 27, 2023, they faced another heartbreak just 13 months later with John’s passing.

The family has weathered multiple tragedies, including two additional deaths in Lori’s husband’s family within nine months of each other in 2024, leaving little space to grieve one loss before the next arrived.

In this time of profound sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to Lori, Linda, and all who loved John. If anyone has a cherished memory of John to share, please post it here—it would mean so much to his family as they honor his life.

Though words cannot ease the weight of so much grief, may John’s memory be a comfort, and may his family find strength in the love and support of those around them.

A memorial page has been created in John’s honor, and the Sayville Alumni Association will remember him annually on his birthday, November 16th. We hope that this remembrance will provide solace to those who knew and loved John.
