Deborah Giattino Obituary

Deborah L. Giattino, 56, of Sayville, Long Island passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Debbie relentlessly battled breast cancer for 16 years. She embraced every moment of her extraordinary life with optimism, courage, and an unrelenting love for her family and friends.

She cherished teaching preschool students at the Tiny Tots Learning Center in Bayport for over 20 years. She loved every moment of working with those children.

Debbie’s life was a testament to the belief that every moment is a gift, and she taught everyone who knew her how to embrace the world with open arms and a joyful heart. Her classroom more often than not, her kitchen, where she paired her unmatched cooking with laughter, celebration, and love for all who joined us at the table.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband James, her sons James Jr., and Kyle, daughter Courtney, mother Senya Walters,  brothers James Walters (Michele), Michael Walters (Alicayne), and Keith Walters (Jenine). Deborah is also survived by nephews and nieces whom she adored (Austin, Brandon, Lukas, Delaney, Reese, Olivia, Evan, Avery, Jude, William, Arlo, Remy, and Stella).  Debbie is predeceased by her father James N. Walters.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Deborah’s life on Friday January 3rd, from 4-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in Bayport.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Sayville, followed by her interment at St. Lawrence the Martyr Cemetery in Sayville.

Debbie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who strive to live as fully as she did. We will “Fight like Debbie” in every aspect of our lives moving forward.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition are appreciated.
